Real Wedding: Kristen & Kenny
Kristen and Kenny got married on September 7, 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia. The wedding was at St. Lukes Episcopal Church that was truly stunning and breathtaking and the reception was at Piedmont Driving Club which was one of the most beautiful country clubs we've ever stepped foot in. Kristen has an elegant, sleek and modern style that was the perfect accent to an already beautiful venue. She chose one of our favorite bands to date (complete with costume changes and choreographed routines to every song) and let us tell you that from start to finish, not one person left the dance floor.
We met Kristen when she was the Maid of Honor in her older sister Kayla's wedding that we planned back in 2018. Kristen, Kayla, and their mom Sandy are truly some of the funniest people we've ever met and we never had anything less than the best time planning with them. They truly know how to turn anything into a good time and both girls' weddings were no exception! We hope you enjoy looking through these photos as much as we did!
What was your favorite thing about wedding planning?
You work for months on the design plan and it was so fun watching it come to life on the wedding day. The wedding party got ready at the same place as the reception so we were able to watch it all come together and that was so fun. I also really loved planning this wedding with my mom. She wanted this to be the wedding of my dreams and it absolutely was.
How would you describe your season of engagement?
It was one of the happiest seasons of my life. We only had a 6-month engagement and I would highly recommend it if that works with the bride/groom's schedule. We were both so ready to be married to each other and it's very doable in 6 months.
What was your favorite memory from your wedding day?
Geez, this one is hard because there are so many great memories from this day. However, I will never forget the feeling of the church doors opening and seeing Kenny at the end of the aisle. We didn't have a first look, so this moment was everything to me. It is 100% worth the wait.
What's been the best thing about being married?
I can truly say that I married my very best friend. No one can make me laugh like Kenny Budd does. We're expecting our first baby late September and it will be an absolute joy to watch him become a dad. He is the sweetest guy in the world and I know he will be the best father.
Kristen's cake was an elegant, modern square tiered cake. We had the baker incorporate her invitation envelope liner flower illustration from on the middle tier which turned out beautiful. It was sitting right at the entrance to the ballroom and made the most gorgeous entrance statement. Confection Perfection nailed the look (and the taste) of this beauty!
The groom's cake was a combination of all of Kenny's loves -- the waffle on bottom signifying his love for Waffle House, and the Storm Trooper (Star Wars) meets Alabama Football helmet on top was an idea dreamed up by the groom himself.
What was most important to you when planning your wedding?
When we first got engaged and started the planning process I told my mom that the three most important things to me were (in no particular order) the food, band and alcohol (full bar). Our band was out-of-this-world amazing. It's almost been a year later and we are still talking about how great they were. Our wedding reception wouldn't have been the same without them.
My favorite vendor was Weezie B. Designs. They are based out of Birmingham and are pretty much a one-stop shop. They made my bachelorette invitations, groom on a stick, wedding invitation / suite, koozies, "This Budds For You" hats, etc. I mean the list goes on. They were incredible to work with and made the process so easy.
What would your advice be to a newly engaged couple?
To soak it up because this season of life flies by. You will blink and the wedding weekend is over, so do your best to enjoy every single moment. Everyone told me that the weekend flies and they were right. I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat if I could.
