Styling your engagement shoot
Leaves beginning to fall, hint of cooler weather, and warm colors; all the things I knew I wanted in my engagement shoot! Before I was engaged I always dreamt of having a fall engagement session outdoors surrounded by our favorite things. I’ve been planning out our engagement shoot ever since getting engaged… coming up with a color scheme, the kind of outfits to wear and ideas for props or other special items to include in our photos. The best way I have found to put everything together was to design a mood or styling board! Here at Southern Posies, it’s one of our favorite things to do when designing for each client that walks through our little studio, so putting together a style board for myself was way more fun than I thought!
Registry Essentials
This post is for all you newly engaged gals. Chances are, you’ve jumped into planning for your big day but have you thought about what happens next? We are giving you a little look into some tips for registering and a few items that will give you a great base to start with!
- Register at multiple places. We recommend some stores with good online shops that friends and family can order from and stores with physical locations near you and your guests for those who would rather go into the store and shop.
- Register for items at all price points. Even though you think no-one but your mom is going to splurge on the KitchenAid or the Roomba, some of your friends and family might want to go in together to get you two one of the more pricey items on your list.
- Make a hearty registry. In the south, chances are, every single one of your aunts, the ladies in the church, and your mom’s best friends are going to want to throw you a shower. Make your registry to accommodate that. There will be folks coming to your wedding that haven’t been to any of your showers that don’t want to be stuck with nothing left to get you. Even if you don’t get everything on your lists, a lot of retailers will give you a percentage off so you can purchase the other things you are wanting after the wedding.
- Don’t forget to say thanks. Stay up to date with your thank you notes so you don’t feel stressed after the wedding to write a ton of them at one time. Etiquette states that thank you notes need to be sent within one month of your wedding so during your free time, sit down with your new hubby and thank the people that have made settling in to your new life together so comfortable.

Happy Football Eve!
In the South, today is pretty much our Christmas Eve. Tomorrow is the official start to college football! Can I get a “War Eagle”? I don’t know about you but my outfit has been picked out for weeks, my AU coozies packed up and I am anxiously awaiting 6:30 pm tomorrow night.
If you’re a football loving girl (like us Southern Posies gals), you know that picking a wedding date around the schedule is no easy task! No matter what season you are saying your ‘I do’s’ in we love how these brides and grooms of ours incorporated their sports teams into their weddings.
What’s in our bride bag?
Stains or wrinkles on a bridesmaids dress, an upset stomach, break a nail, a groomsman forgot socks? Anything can happen on wedding day which is why we bring our big rolling ‘bride bag’ fully stocked with all of the necessities to ensure those little things are taken care of with ease. They are the smallest things you don’t want to stress about on your big day, but having these things handy and ready will solve the problem if that were to happen.

A peek inside our Floral Design process
It’s pretty normal for you to find my nose deep in any floral related book I can get my hands on. There is something so fascinating to me about the intricacies of flowers. From the smells, textures, shapes, patterns, colors, meanings, origins…I think ultimately it is seeing the Lord’s handiwork scattered across the earth with a gentle reminder that sometimes the most beautiful of things take time and usually grow through a whole lot of dirt and that out of patience and grace, we to can flourish from the messes of everyday life.
