Reminiscing on last August when this lakeside wedding took place at one of the prettiest spots on the water.  Katie and Charles said I do at one of my favorite little chapels on Lake Martin then danced the night away under a beautiful tent with family and friends.  I loved getting to team up with the gals at Mariée Ami and play in the prettiest palettes of pinks to create a Kate Spade and Lilly Pulitzer inspired design.  Learn more about the flowers chosen and the creation of all the pretty floral designs on the wedding day.

Katie’s bouquet consisted of white hydrangeas, white o’hara garden roses, pink fringe tulips, pink ranunculus, pink piano garden roses, green hypericum {coffee bean}, pink floyd roses, pink o’hara garden roses, white dove roses, miranda garden roses, pink majolica spray roses and salal foliage.

I loved hearing Katie’s most favorite detail from her wedding:  My most favorite detail though had to be my dad’s ring on my bouquet. He passed away when I was 20, and though I know he was smiling down on us, it was really special to have something to hold onto from him when my mom walked me down the aisle.

Here is a peek at a little inspiration Katie showed me that helped me in designing her floral combos.  The navy was pulled out in her bridesmaids dresses as well as linens and texture throughout the reception space.  I included hot pink hydrangeas in the bridesmaids bouquets and we left off the tinge of greenery in theirs.

For Charles we kept it very classic with a white ranunculus trimmed with green hypericum.

I absolutely adored both the mother of the bride and mother of the groom’s attire.

Love those pockets!

Katie wanted to keep the cross very classic with whites, creams and greenery.  I felt like that was a perfect idea since we had a lot of bright colors gracing the handhelds and aisle markers.  The custom cross we built and designed was 5′ tall and full of hydrangeas, roses, spray roses, ranunculus, hypericum and salal.

The large boxes were created by the groom’s mother and were the perfect addition of navy texture.  Even though we had a little bit of rain it did not stand in our way of creating this pretty entrance to the reception.

Loved creating these centerpieces that included additional pops of green cymbidium orchids.  Little hints of gold rock graced the small votive cups where flowers intertwined throughout the top.

Clean, classic and refined.

This big guy I created while standing on the top navy box and a ladder.  It was super heavy and filled with hundreds of flower stems and I knew it would be near to impossible to lift it if made on the ground.  The biggest challenge with designs like these?  Definitely the height and making sure the design is complimentary on all sides.  Don’t you love the tips of ginger, eremerus, lisianthus and gladiolas gracing the top?  A salal collar along the base created a feminine almost skirt as a nod to the Katie Spade and Lily Pulitzer inspiration.

I wanted all of the large focals in the reception to really make a statement and for guests to be eager and intrigued to walk all the way around each design and admiring the unique textures and shapes.  I imagined the largest one in the center being a confident woman with her arms up in excitement and joy.

I always tell my clients to opt for floral focal pieces at impactful locations such as the bar, bride’s cake, major food stations and dance floor/staging.  These are two places guests congregate and they are always going to notice the floral touches provided here.  P.S. Katie, her mom and her future MIL made the cutest Lilly Pulitzer bowties for the band. Absolutely loved that special touch!

All of the large designs were complimentary to each other but each had it’s own story and form.

As an avid art junkie, I always love seeing couple’s opting to have special treasures like this done at their wedding ceremony or reception.  Thoughtful touch you will always have.

We elevated the cake on glass and designed a gorgeous floral garland surrounding the base with petals scattered underneath.

This area smelled absolutely wonderful with the cake and garden roses.

Loved gracing this boat with blooms for the perfect lake send off!

Big hugs to Katie and Charles and their sweet fams! Loved working with y’all and this sweet team of vendors.
