Jayne and Ethan were married on April 29, 2017 at the beautiful Russell Lands on Lake Martin. Look up “lovebirds” in the dictionary. You will find a picture of these two.

How did you two meet? Tell us your love story.

Ethan and I met at The Front Porch, a local college bar in Troy Alabama one Friday night. We kept meeting eyes that night and once I realized he wasn’t going to approach me first, well, I just walked up to him and introduced myself. After talking for a little Ethan asked for my phone number and we parted ways. That Sunday he asked to take me out to dinner and I agreed. I knew from that date on that he was “the one.”

Any funny stories about your first date?

Ethan was on the way to pick me up and he got lost, so he gave me a call. When I answered I remember thinking how southern his accent was and thinking what did I get myself into!

How did he propose?

One weekend in June we went to visit Ethan’s family and stay at the cabin. His family had planned a “birthday celebration” for his cousin Hagen that Saturday night. We spent the day at the pool relaxing and catching up with his family. Little did I know the party that night was actually for our engagement. Once everyone started arriving the girls told me we had to go to the store to pick something up. Of course I thought nothing of it and jumped in the car. When we returned Ethan called me over to the pond to help him reel in a bass he has just caught. I was so excited to reel in the fish that I ended up tripping on a branch (lol) (in front of everyone) on my way to the bank. As I started to reeled in I realized there wasn’t a fish on the line after all, but actually a message in a bottle. As I opened up the bottle Ethan got down on one Knee and asked me to marry him. My first words were “shut up!” I was truly in shock! Shortly after I ran into his arms and said “YES!” As I turned around to our family and friends, I saw my parents and best friends standing in the crowd and happy tears filled my eyes. It was truly unexpected and a dream come true!

What was the most special memory of your proposal?

The best part was having all of our family and friends there to witness and celebrate our engagement. Also knowing how much effort and thought Ethan put into the engagement to make it one of the best days of our lives!

What was your most special memory from your wedding day?

My favorite memory would have to be reading Ethan’s letter to me while I was getting ready. My husbands words stirred so many emotions and made me so thankful to have found the man of my dreams. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world!

What are you two looking most forward to about being newlyweds?

Growing together as one and seeing what God has in store for our future. Marriage is hard, but so worth it. Ethan and I are definitely not experts yet, but growing old with the person God made for you is a beautiful thing. I am currently loving this season of life and learning something new everyday.

What is your advice for newly engaged couples?

Don’t sweat the small stuff. The best advice Ethan gave me during the season of engagement was, “at the end of the day we are going to be married! How cool is that.”
