Anna and Pierce were married February 4, 2017 at The Oaks Plantation in Pike Road, Alabama. We absolutely loved being a part of their special day. Their joy is contagious and their love for each other is ever so obvious. We are so excited to share their story!

How did you two meet?

Pierce and I met at freshman orientation. He was an orientation leader, and I was a freshman. I had a huge crush on him the moment we met, and I remember calling one of my best friends when I got home from that weekend and saying “I hope I date someone like that in college, but I’ll probably never see him again.” A few months later a mutual friend re-introduced us, Pierce asked me on a date, and the rest is history!

How did you two choose your wedding date?

Pierce and I knew we wanted a winter wedding, and February 4th just stood out to us. We also made sure to schedule our date around the football schedules as any good southern couple would do. 😉

Any funny stories about your first date?

Pierce took me to a restraunt called “Sips on the Square” in Troy, Alabama. I was so nervous that when Pierce went to the bathroom I dropped my pizza on the ground cheese down, and it stuck to the floor. I couldn’t get it off before he came back so I threw my napkin on top of it in an attempt to make sure he didn’t notice it. He definitely noticed!

After hearing this story we knew it would be perfect to incorporate pizza into their reception menu as a nod to their first date!

How did he propose?

He proposed at a local museum here in Montgomery. It was special to us because his dad was the interior designer who designed the building before he passed away. Pierce lied and said we were going to an art show, and instead had plans to propose. He had a bouquet of roses and a bible with “Anna Godwin” on it waiting for me on a bench. When we got closer to the bench I turned around and he was down on one knee. He asked me to spend forever with him, and of course I said YES!

Were there any special details (readings, songs, vows, etc.)  you were sure to include?

Pierce and I wrote our own vows and it was so special! I definitely encourage anyone to write your own vows. It makes your ceremony so intimate.

Give us your favorite memory from your wedding day!

Pierce and I took a few moments alone together to eat after the ceremony. That time together was so special!

What are you two most looking forward to as newlyweds?

Being able to decorate our apartment together and use all of our incredible wedding gifts that our friends and family got us to decorate. We have an incredible support system!
